MANILA, Philippines— Senator Risa Hontiveros branded on Thursday the fresh allegations being hurled against the opposition as another “product of Malacanang’s wild imagination.”

Hontiveros was among the opposition members who were linked by Peter Joemel Advincula to the so-called “Bikoy” videos and to an alleged ouster plot against President Rodrigo Duterte.

Advincula claims to be “Bikoy,” the hooded man in the “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos that linked Duterte’s relatives and allies to the illegal drug trade.

But Advincula retracted his allegations and tagged the opposition as allegedly being behind him and the videos.

Hontiveros said she found it “odd” that the administration was quick to shoot down Advincula’s credibility when the latter first made the allegations against Duterte’s family and close friends.

The administration, she said, even threatened to have Advincula arrested.

“And now, when he sings a different song and accuses the opposition of outlandish things, all of a sudden his credibility is restored? How absurd,” the senator said in a statement.

“This is fanciful and another attempt by this administration to distract the public. Just like the President’s matrices, it is another product of Malacanang’s wild imagination,” Hontiveros added. (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
