Grab driver hailed for helping passenger rush baby to hospital

MANILA, Philippines — A viral post about a Grab driver who helped a passenger  rush her baby to the hospital went viral on Sunday, May 19.

Netizen Khaye Flores Crisologo shared on Facebook her appreciation for Rodriguez Bueza Santos Jr., the Grab driver who drove her and her 10-month old baby to the hospital.

“When he asked me about the destination I told him sa ER (emergency room) ng DLSMC ( De Los Santos Medical Center). Then he said, “emergency pala to mam” he saw my son na sunken eyeballs na and iyak ng iyak (This is an emergency when he saw my son with sunken eyeballs and crying very hard).”

Crisologo said the driver drove as fast as he could.

“Nag hazard siya and keeps on honking as a sign of emergency and for other drivers to give way. Upon reaching the hospital, I am giving him the payment, but he refused to get it,” she said.

Crisologo said that she still insisted on paying the driver, but he told her to use the money for the baby instead.

“He started helping me with my things and handed it over sa guard sa ER. I even left my phone inside the car, but he gave it to me before he left,” she added.

Crisologo told INQUIRER.net that her baby had acute gastroenteritis with moderate dehydration, but he is now his way to recovery.

She expressed gratitude to the driver through her post, which has garnered more than 127,000 reactions, 5,400 comments, and 24,800 shares on Facebook as of posting time. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
