Retired cop gunned down by motorcycle-riding men in Navotas

MANILA, Philippines — A retired police officer was shot dead by unidentified men riding a motorcycle in Navotas on Tuesday night.

Members of Navotas City police station identified the victim as Benjamin Ramos, 54. He was formerly assigned at the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), police said.


Based on a police report, Ramos was aboard his motorcycle traveling along M. Naval Street corner Rajah Baguinda Street in Barangay Daanghari when the suspects suddenly appeared and shot him multiple times. 

The suspects fled from the scene towards Barangay San Roque, according to police, citing initial investigation.


Police said they recovered seven fired cartridge cases of an unknown firearm.

Investigation is ongoing, as of posting, to identify the suspects, while a follow-up operation has been launched in a bid to apprehend the perpetrators. (Editor: Katherine G. Adraneda)
