PNP destroys over 7,000 seized blinkers, sirens, mufflers

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police – Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) destroyed 7,130 illegal mufflers, blinkers and sirens seized from convoys and motorcades of political parties during the 2019 May midterm election campaign period.

On Wednesday, PNP-HPG destroyed 4,674 LED lights, 27 strobe lights, four dome lights, 592 fog lights, 429 blinkers, 539 open mufflers, 36 sirens, 783 commemorative plates, eight horns, 25 motor plate covers, and 13 beacon lights.

PNP-HPG said the destruction of illegal materials served as a warning to violators and to promote road courtesy and discipline.

PNP-HPG said illegal items were confiscated during their “Kontra Wang Wang” operations nationwide.
