Election returns received by PPCRV now 60%

MANILA, Philippines — The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) said on Tuesday afternoon that they had received more than 60 percent of the election returns nationwide.

As of 12:51 a.m., the poll watchdog had received election returns from 51,538 of the 85,769 clustered precincts or 60.09 percent of the clustered precincts in the country.

In Luzon, the PPCRV had received election returns from 24,331 clustered precincts, including those from Abra, Cavite, Mindoro, Ifugao, Bulacan, Cagayan, Camarines Norte, Sorsogon, Palawan, Aurora, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Pampanga, Nueva Ecija, La Union, Bataan, Pangasinan, Occidental Mindoro, Bicol, Tarlac, Quezon, Laguna, and Mountain Province.

In the Visayas, it had received 15,334 election returns from clustered precincts in Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, Samar, Cadiz, Antique, Aklan, Southern Leyte, Cebu, Iloilo, and Bohol.

The least election returns received for the day were from Mindanao because it takes time to transport the physical copies of the returns to the PPCRV’s command center in Paco, Manila.

PPCRV had also received 4,700 election returns from clustered precincts in Basilan, Northern Cotabato, Misamis Oriental, Misamis Occidental, Sultan Kudarat, Surigao del Norte, Butuan, Sulu, Zamboanga Sibugay, Lanao del Sur, Lanao del Norte, South Cotabato, and Agusan del Norte.

The Church-backed poll watchdog is mandated to conduct voter’s education, poll watch, and an unofficial, parallel counting of votes for the midterm elections.

It manually encodes physical copies of election returns and compares them to the electronic results from the transparency server. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
