MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Leni Robredo has turned down the resignation of Liberal Party (LP) President Senator Francis Pangilinan and Secertary General Rep. Jose Christopher “Kit” Belmonte.
According to lawyer Barry Gutierrez, Robredo’s spokesperson, the resignations were not accepted because there is still a lot of work to do for the opposition.
“The VP has not accepted Senator Kiko’s and Cong. Kit’s resignations. Much work remains to be done, and they will do it, together,” Gutierrez said in a message to reporters.
Earlier, it was reported that Pangilinan has tendered his resignation to Robredo, LP’s Chairperson Emeritus, after none of the Otso Diretso candidates was able to land a seat in the Senate after the 2019 midterm elections. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
