Palace assures public those at fault for LRT-2 crash to be held accountable

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Monday said the personnel responsible for the collision of two Light Rail Transit 2 (LRT-2) trains between the Cubao and Anonas stations in Quezon City on Saturday night should be held accountable.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said Duterte was “concerned” with the incident that hurt at least 34 people.

“The President is concerned that’s why [he] is waiting for the result of the investigation – the whys and wherefores of the accident,” Panelo said in a Palace briefing.

He said the management of LRT-2 “has already apologized to the public and has conducted or is conducting an investigation on the matter.”

“So we will be waiting for a report. The President will be waiting for a report of the incident,” he said.

Asked if the President would want those responsible  for the collision to be held accountable, he said, “Yes, of course.”
