MANILA, Philippines – Amid the prevailing hot weather this afternoon in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon, heavy rain showers are expected in a few hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Monday.
In an advisory released 12:10 p.m., the weather bureau said that heavy to intense rain showers are expected to drench Metro Manila, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Batangas, and Rizal in the next two hours.
Pagasa said that rain showers have also been reported in parts of Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, and Bataan.
“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” Pagasa said.
The advisory aligned with Pagasa’s forecast on Monday morning that the weather would be warm, with the possibility of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Pagasa said that the dominant weather system is southwesterly surface wind flow which serves as a sign that the rainy season could be near.
Despite this, Pagasa said that no major weather disturbance is expected in the next three days. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
