Quakes rock 3 Bicol provinces

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines – A series of earthquakes shook the provinces of Masbate, Camarines Sur and Sorsogon on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

In Masbate, a magnitude 4 earthquake struck at 6:45 a.m., with the epicenter recorded in Pio V. Corpuz town.

Earlier, Phivolcs instruments also recorded a magnitude 2.5 quake at 6:40 a.m. in Camarines Sur with the epicenter in Presentacion town.

Another 2.4 magnitude quake was recorded at 3:47 a.m. in Sorsogon with the epicenter in Castilla town.

On Sunday, a 3.8 magnitude earthquake jolted Camarines Sur at 8:36 p.m., with the epicenter located in Balatan town.

All the quakes were of tectonic in origin, Phivolcs said. (Editor: Cenon B. Bibe Jr.)
