MANILA, Philippines – The Commission on Elections on Friday said that it is addressing concerns and issues on the recent midterm elections raised by the Liberal Party (LP), Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said.
The once ruling LP recently filed a manifestation urging the poll body to act on the reported election day problems and glitches.
“These are all measures that we agreed with and these are all measures that we already started to work on,” Jimenez said in a press briefing.
In a four-page manifestation and motion, LP, represented by its president, Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan and secretary general, Rep. Jose Christopher Belmonte, urged the Comelec to create an independent body to investigate the glitches in the transparency server and vote counting machines (VCMs).
The former ruling party also asked Comelec to release the audit and system logs of the transparency server.
Jimenez, however, said the audit logs were given to the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) even before the manifestation was made.
“The server logs have already been released to PPCRV, and PPCRV has been given first look. So any future request will have to be processed through PPCRV,” Jimenez said.
Apart from the server logs, LP also sought the identification of the places or areas of deployment or localities and or clustered precincts of the 1,665 SD cards and 961 VCMs that malfunctioned. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
