Minor lands in jail for illegal gun possession, ammo

MANILA, Philippines — Members of the Makati City police arrested on Thursday evening a 17-year-old boy for illegal possession of gun and ammunition.

Prior to the arrest, the Makati police said they received initial information about a “shooting” incident at Dian Street corner Diesel Street in Barangay Palanan at about 10 p.m.

Upon reaching the location, police saw the suspect being restrained by a concerned citizen.

According to the complainant Angelo Petilia, 21, he was outside of his house when the suspect appraoched him and pointed a gun at him.

Petilia added that with the help of other bystanders, they were able to subdue the armed teenager right before he can pull the trigger.

Seized from the suspect were one Austrian-made Glock 17 pistol and one magazine loaded with five bullets.

The minor was brought to the Station Investigation and Detection Management Section of the Makati City police for further investigation and proper disposition. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
