Enrile is 11th in home province of Cagayan

TUGUEGARAO CITY — Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, who banked on his campaign catch phrase “Gusto ko, happy ka” (I want you to be happy), may not be amused that he ranked 11th among Senate hopefuls in Monday’s elections in his home province of Cagayan.

Enrile got 169,166 votes, trailing behind Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, who topped the list with 314,764 votes, and second placer Cynthia Villar who earned 282,904 votes.

A two-term senator, Enrile, who cast his vote in Aparri town, got 8,000 votes more than former Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, who ranked 12th. —VILLAMOR VISAYA JR.
