Defective SD cards delay vote canvassing in Bohol town
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — The canvassing of votes in Sagbayan, Bohol province has been temporarily suspended since Monday because of five defective Secure Digital (SD) cards.
The cards represent five barangays of Sagbayan, namely Calangahan, Canmaya Centro, Katipunan, San Roque, and Poblacion (Sitio Capitol and Sitio Kalubihan).
The Comelec-Sagbayan and the Municipal Board of Canvassers brought the cards to the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) Regional Technical Hub in Cebu for reconfiguration.
“We will announce the resumption of the canvassing by the Municipal Board of Canvassers the moment those five reconfigured SD cards arrive,” the LGU-Sagbayan posted on Facebook.
“Any information telling the public that the canvassing in Sagbayan has resumed today at 8 o’clock in the morning is simply NOT true,” it added.
“I just hope that the SD cards will be in tomorrow as promised by Manila. I’ve been pressuring Manila already. I have been explaining to them that further delays mean more problems and maybe negative impressions,” said lawyer Eddie Aba, the provincial election supervisor.
