MANILA, Philippines – A passenger of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) was arrested on Wednesday for carrying live ammunition at the North Avenue Station.
MRT-3 management said the suspect was identified as Don Ray Adina, 36.
Adina was found to be carrying one magazine and eight pieces of 10-millimeter ammunition inside his backpack, which were detected by the MRT-3 baggage scanner.
The suspect is currently under the custody of the Philippine National Police – Regional Mobile Force Battalion (PNP-RMFB) in Shaw Boulevard.
He will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Omnibus Election Code, the MRT-3 management said.
“The DOTr MRT-3 assures the public that the incident will not be taken lightly, and that strict security measures will continue to be implemented across MRT-3 trains and stations for the safety and security of passengers,” the management said in a statement.
Passengers were urged to be vigilant and to immediately report to the authorities suspicious-looking individuals and items in MRt-3 trains and stations. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
