BACOLOD CITY — A man believed to be mentally unstable went amuck and hacked three members of his family and a councilman in Barangay Balicotoc, Ilog, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.
Armed with a bolo, William Magbato killed his wife Merlinda, nephew Ryan Olitan, sister-in-law Ramonita Magbato, and councilman Nelson Balsomo.
Lt. Col. Patricio Tomales, 15th Infantry Battalion commander, said one of the Army troops managed to neutralize the suspect by shooting him on the right hand.
Magbato was immediately turned over to the Ilog police.
Also injured in the hacking spree incident were Jessie Terones and Jamie Tiaga. (Editor: Leti Boniol)
