MANILA, Philippines — ‘The matrix is true,” was President Rodrigo Duterte’s pronouncement Monday, as he stood by the credibility of the ouster matrices released by Malacañang.

Emerging from the polling precinct where he voted in Davao City, Duterte likewise said “Bikoy” was also true, citing “spectral analysis” of the hooded person’s voice in the controversial “Ang Totoong Narcolist” (The Real Narcolist) videos.

“The matrix is true. The matrix is true. Even ‘Bikoy,’ you can see the spectral analysis of their voices. That is really true,” Duterte told reporters at an impromptu press conference outside his polling precinct.

“The Real Narcolist” videos link Duterte’s immediate family members to the illegal drugs trade.

Made public by Malacañang on April 22, the four matrices tagged journalists, pro-bono lawyers, the Liberal Party, and Magdalo Group as allegedly conniving to oust Duterte.

“Si Tordesillas talagang totoong ano. She’s an every inch a prostitute,” he said, referring to Vera Files President and veteran journalist Ellen Tordesillas.

Pressed further about the matrix, Duterte refused to already elaborate.

“Yes, that matrix. Bahala na kayong mag-interpret. But those lines are really not line connections. There were a lot of communications there that were recorded,” he said.

Amid fears information on the matrices were wiretapped, the President acknowledged wiretapping was illegal.

“Yes, wiretapping is against the law,” he said.

‘Sino ang nag-wiretap? I really do not know. Finished product na ‘yan eh. Then, only if you use it in court, it cannot be accepted as evidence,” he added. (Editor: Katherine G. Adraneda)
