2 nabbed for suspected vote-buying in Northern Samar

CATARMAN, Northern Samar — Two suspected vote-buyers were arrested in Northern Samar after they were allegedly caught carrying money for distribution to voters.

Police Captain Adrian Lozano, commander of the 803rd mobile company, identified the suspects as Liza Gonzaga, a resident of Barangay Dao, San Jose town, and Salvador Arcebuche of Barangay North also from San Jose.

Recovered from them were a list of voters and some “improvised envelopes” containing P50 bills and the name of a candidate for municipal councilor written on top.

The suspects were detained at the San Jose police station.

Captain Russel Calubag, San Jose chief of police, said they would file charges against the suspects for violating Section 261 of Batas Pambansa 881 and the Omnibus Election Code.
