MANILA, Philippines — The country’s poll body expects that at least 80 percent of all polling precincts would open on election day on time without encountering any problem.
Commission on Elections (Comelec) Spokesperson James Jimenez said this with confidence on Sunday as the country prepares for the national and local elections set on Monday.
“Ine-expect natin na ang opening rate natin nasa 80 to 90 percent na mag-o-open on time na walang problema,” Jimenez said in an interview with Radyo Inquirer 990 AM.
“So, mataas ang confidence level natin, mataas ang moral ng Comelec, at nag-aabang na lang talaga tayo ng oras,” he added.
Polling precincts across the country is expected to open at 6 a.m. for the public to vote for the midterm polls. Precincts will then close at 6 p.m.
More than 61 million voters are expected to vote for the elections concerning national and local candidates.
The canvassing of votes, meanwhile, will happen at the Philippine International Convention Center.
The National Plebiscite Board of Canvassers will convene at 3 p.m., Monday. (Editor: Julie Espinosa)
