MANILA, Philippines — Elenita Binay, wife of former Vice President Jejomar Binay, endorsed Junjun Binay for the Makati mayoralty on Saturday during the miting de avance of her son and daughter, re-electionist Sen. Nancy Binay, in Makati.

“Ako ay nandito harap ninyo para ipakilala ang magiging, babalik, bago na mayor,” Binay matriarch, who also served as  Makati mayor from 1998 to 2001, said in a speech during the “Be Nice” miting de avance.

Junjun is running against his sister, incumbent Makati Mayor Abigail “Abby” Binay, for the top executive post.

Elenita lauded Junjun for his qualities.

“Si Junjun po ang nagmana ng ugali ko. Ano ang ugali na yun? Matulungin, mabait, madaling lapitan,” she said.

[Junjun has the same qualities that I have. And what are those qualities? Helpful, kind, easy to approach.]

Earlier in the rally, Binay siblings Anne, Nancy, and Junjun joined their mother on stage as they gave her flowers a day ahead of Mother’s Day.

Abby and Binay patriarch Jejomar were absent from the miting de avance.

On Friday, Abby staged her own miting de avance with her father, who’s running as House representative for the 1st District of Makati.
