TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol — A security guard was killed when his motorcycle slammed into a passenger bus in Dagohoy town in Bohol province early Saturday, police said.

Nilo Janiola, 25, was driving his motorcycle at 8:25 a.m. when he collided head-on with a Southern Star Bus bound for Tagbilaran City along the national highway in Barangay (village) Sta. Cruz.

Police Staff Sergeant Daryl Esclamado said Janiola was heading home to Barangay Buenavista in Ubay town when the accident happened. “He tried to overtake a multicab but he did not notice the incoming Southern Star bus,” said Esclamado.

He said the motorcycle was on the opposite lane of the highway at the time of the accident. Janiola, who died on the spot, was wearing a helmet but it crashed due to the impact of the collision.
