LUCENA CITY -– Two motorcycle riders and a pedestrian were killed in two separate road accidents in Calauag and Agdangan towns in Quezon province on Friday, police said Saturday.
A report from the Quezon police said Romulo Noda, 22, was driving his motorcycle with Angelo Alcantara, 16, as a back rider when their vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming Toyota Hiace van along the Bondoc Peninsula Highway in Barangay (village) Sildora, Agdangan around 7:30 p.m.
Noda died while being taken to Unisan Medicare Hospital in nearby Unisan town.
Alcantara later died while undergoing treatment at the same hospital, Capt. Orlando Gerero, Agdangan police chief said in a phone interview.
Investigation revealed that the motorcycle overtook another vehicle while negotiating a sharp curve that led to the collision.
The van driver, Adrin Delos Santos, was detained at the town police jail.
In Calauag town, a passing Toyota Innova van bumped Manuel Lobendino, 58, along Maharlika Highway in Barangay Biyan at 8:15 p.m.
The victim died while being taken to St. Peter General Hospital at Calauag town center.
The police said the van hit the victim when he suddenly crossed the highway.
The driver of the van, Noroden Alamada, reported the accident to the local police station. (Editor: Leti Z. Boniol)
