2 village execs nabbed for possession of firearms, ammunition — CIDG
MANILA, Philippines — Two incumbent barangay chairpersons were arrested for violating the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said Thursday.
The barangay chairpersons were identified as Mario Tubajara of Barangay Mamanga Gamay in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental and Edgar Agdoc of Barangay Tagpupuran in Lingig, Surigao del Sur.
CIDG said Tubajara, 51, was arrested in an operation headed by CIDG-Misamis Occidental based on a search warrant issued by Honorary Nora B. Montejo, Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 14, 10th Judicial Region, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental.

Meanwhile, Acdog was arrested in Barangay Tagpupuran in Lingig, Surigao del Sur.

CIDG said the arrests were made following the instructions of CIDG director Police Major General Amador Corpus to conduct police operations to prevent election-related violence due to loose firearms and private armed groups (PAGs).
Both chairpersons will face charges for violation of RA 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Law. /ee
