MANILA, Philippines — Peter Joemel Advincula and his handlers would have been caught if the Senate investigation on claims that President Rodrigo Duterte’s family members and allies were involved in illegal drug trade pushed through Friday, May 10.

Senator Panfilo Lacson, chair of the Senate Committee on Public Order, revealed Thursday the scheduled hearing, which he later canceled, was just a ploy to unmask Advincula, who suddenly emerged and identified himself as “Bikoy,” and find out the people behind him.

Advincula surfaced Monday, May 6, at the Integrated Bar of the Philippines headquarters in Pasig City and introduced himself as Bikoy, the hooded narrator in the series of “Ang Totoong Narcolist” videos alleging Duterte’s family members and long-time aide Bong Go benefitted from illegal drug syndicates. /kga
