MANILA, Philippines — The supposed conspiracy to overthrow President Rodrigo Duterte should not be taken seriously, Senator JV Ejercito said after Malacañang released a matrix in connection to an alleged ouster plot.

During the weekly Kapihan sa Senado on Thursday, Ejercito sensed “no danger” to the Duterte administration as he cited the President’s high trust ratings.

“Yung matrix, I don’t think there is any danger of overthrowing the President, considering that he enjoys 70-80 percent approval, no danger there,” he said.

“So palagay ko hindi dapat seryosohin ngayon. Kasi kahit na mayrong matrix, wala namang mangyayari sa matrix na yan, di ba? The President enjoys the trust and confidence of the majority of the population,” he added.

On Wednesday, Malacañang said that groups that included the Liberal Party, Magdalo, and certain media entities were conniving to oust Duterte.
