PPCRV unveils midterm polls command center

MANILA, Philippines – Five days before the midterm elections, the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) has officially launched its command center that will work on its unofficial parallel counting of returns.

The church-based poll watchdog said around 300 volunteers will man the encoding center in three shifts.

“This Hall is sacred as a place of Faith, our Faith in God, and also on Monday, a place of Faith and Hope of our people. It is here that the volunteers of PPCRV will guard and validate the voice of the people,” Myla Villanueva, PPCRV Chairman, said during the ribbon cutting ceremony at the command center on Wednesday.

“And it is here that today, we hope and pray for a clean, honest, accurate, meaningful and peaceful elections,” she added.

PPCRV was recently accredited by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as its citizens arm in the upcoming elections.

The center will operate for 24 hours until the end of the canvassing of votes, PPCRV Executive Director Maribel Buenaobra said.

The poll watchdog also reminded voters to look for candidates with “K.K.K.” or “Karakter, Kakayahan, and Katapatan.” /gsg
