WATER AGREEMENT SIGNED

An agreement was signed by Mandaue City Hall, the Metro Cebu Water District (MCWD) and the National Water Resource that sought to regulate water extraction activities in Mandaue City.

The agreement was signed by Mayor Jonas Cortes, MCWD General Manager Armando Paredes and Director Vicente Paragas of the National Water Resource.

Cortes said the agreement helps in realizing the city’s vision of sustainable development while Paragas said it will help regulate and maximize water resources of a local government unit (LGU).

The agreement provides that those engaged in water extraction activities are required first to secure a water extraction permit from the National Water Resource.

The permit  will ensure the issuance of a business permit from the city government. The MCWD is deputized to conduct an inspection on the site. Correspondent Norman V. Mendoza
