TRUCK HITS CAROLER

A 57-YEAR-OLD man was killed after he was hit by a 10-wheeler truck while he was crossing the  road in barangay Tuyan, Naga City, southern Cebu.

Police identified the fatality as Tom Mates Jr.

Mates was with friends going from house to house to sing Christmas carols past 10 p.m. last Tuesday.

Police said the group was about to cross a road when Mates was hit by a prime-mover with plate number JXG-551 driven by Hernando Bernal, 44.

Chief Insp. Timmar Alam, chief of the Naga police, said Bernal sped off after hitting the man.

Members of the Naga and Toledo police caught up with Bernal in barangay Lutopan, Toledo City.

Bernal said he didn’t notice the victim crossing the street.

Bernal was later detained at the Naga police station.

MAN FOUND DEAD

THE decomposing body of a 70-year-old man was found outside his house in barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, southern Cebu.

The body of Feliciano Daan was found yesterday morning about 10 meters from his house, said police.

The man lived alone.

Polce said there were no sign of foul play in the man’s death.

SPO1 Mikie Espina of the Talisay City said the man had been under medication for a still-unknown illness.
