MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.5 earthquake jolted Tawi-tawi Tuesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said the quake, of tectonic origin, was reported at 3:19 p.m. with a depth of 530 kilometers.
The quake’s epicenter was traced 358 kilometers southeast of the municipality of South Ubian.
Phivolcs said no aftershocks are expected.
The quake was reported following a magnitude 4.0 quake that jolted Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental on Tuesday morning. /gsg
