As it marked its 31st anniversary yesterday, the Pag-Ibig Fund plans to put up extension offices and service desks in various points in Cebu next year.
Jovelita V. Custodio, Pag-Ibig Fund Cebu north branch department manager said extension offices and service desks will be put up in Mactan, Danao, Bantayan and Bogo, to reach the yearly membership level compliance and remittances.
“Many employers wanted to comply. . .They can always register online and remit on banks but its much better if there are offices,” Custodio said in a press conference.
Victoria B. de la Peña, Pag-Ibig Fund Visayas vice president, said as of November this year, the Cebu south branch has 351,691 members while the Cebu north branch has 304,839 members.
Anthony L. Maglungsod, Pag-Ibig Fund officer-in-charge (OIC) assistant department manager for operations, pointed out the firm’s motto, “Leave no members behind.”
“No matter where they (members) are, we will find them and offer them the benefits (of being a PAG-BIG member),” Maglungsod said.
Maglungsod said one of their challenges that they are facing is the “housing backlog” because some members couldn’t afford the housing rates offered by the “private developers.”
“We would like to tap LGUs (local government units) so that the cost of housing would be low,” Maglungsod said.
He said LGUs don’t have a marketing cost compared to private developers that would lower housing costs. Manglungsod said the Group Housing Loan Program (GHLP) for LGUs started last Aug. 8.
“The lot should be owned by the LGU,” he said, adding that employers, employees and cooperatives can also avail of the GHLP.
Portia V. Bacalso, Pag-Ibig Fund Cebu south marketing and enforcement division chief, said their Penalty Condonation Program for Delinquent Employers and Delinquent Borrowers will run from January to June 30 next year.
Bacalso said employers who fail to remit the Pag-Ibig contributions of their members despite having availed of a penalty condonation are excluded from the program.
