MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.0 earthquake struck under the sea off Davao Occidental on Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The earthquake’s epicenter was recorded at 214 kilometers southeast of the municipality of Jose Abad Santos, and was of tectonic origin.
Phivolcs added that the quake struck at 7:09 a.m. at a depth of 180 kilometers.
No aftershocks and damages were expected, Phivolcs said. /cbb
