STA. ROSA, Nueva Ecija — A village councilor was injured after a grenade lobbed by a motorcycle-riding man exploded at a residential compound here on Sunday afternoon.
Police identified the victim as Dante Pascua, 49, a resident of Barangay Del Pilar.
Investigation showed the victim was inside the compound of village chairman Rommel Marcelo when the unidentified suspect launched the hand grenade at about 4 p.m.
The suspect was described only as someone wearing helmet and black jacket.
Pascua sustained multiple wounds and is now being treated at a local hospital.
Police have yet to establish the motive behind the attack.
It was the latest in a string of attacks by unidentified suspects during the election period.
Recently, a grenade exploded inside the compound of Cabanatuan Electric Corp. owned by the family of Mayor Julius Cesar Vergara in Cabanatuan City. /kga
