MANILA, Philippines — A 5.8 magnitude earthquake jolted Ilocos Norte on Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
Phivolcs said it traced the quake’s epicenter 11 kilometers northwest of Pagudpud in Ilocos Norte.
The earthquake, which hit the area at around 10:48 a.m., was of tectonic origin and was eight kilometers deep.
Claveria, Cagayan felt the tremor at Intensity V, Phivolcs added.
Meanwhile, Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte and Tuguegarao City felt the quake at Intensity IV; and Intensity III was felt in Sinait and Vigan City, Ilocos Sur.
Phivolcs said no damages could be expected from the earthquake but warned of aftershocks. /je
