Raps to be filed against negligent policeman

Administrative charges are being prepared against a policeman who witnessed but allegedly did “not lift a finger” to help a member of the Philippine practical shooting team who was shot and killed by four men in Malabon City in September. While the actuation of Police Officer 2 Christopher Agustin did not necessarily mean that he was involved in the killing of Michael Lontoc, Chief Superintendent Antonio Decano, Northern Police District director, said that the findings of Special Investigation Task Force-Lontoc showed that Agustin should be held liable for “serious neglect of duty” since he is a police officer “whose sworn duty is to serve and protect.” Lontoc was on his way home when he was shot by four armed men on M.H. del Pilar Street in Barangay (village) Tinejeros. He was declared dead on arrival at a hospital.—Kristine Felisse Mangunay
