Held at Lubao town in Pampanga province, the festival showcases Lubao’s rich cultural heritage and pays homage to the hardworking sampaguita workers.
The theme this year is “Lubao: Heritage of the Past, Legacy of the Future.” Highlights of the festival include the festival king and queen coronation and street dancing event.
May 5 to 9: Diro Festival
Activities include an agritourism and trade fair; parade of lights; PWDs, caregivers and senior citizens’ day; and cooking show.
May 5 to 31: Magayon Festival
The beauty of Mayon volcano, which draws tourists for its near-perfect cone, is feted in this monthlong festival in Albay province.
The festival’s name means beautiful in Bicol dialect. Residents also give thanks for the abundance of harvest in Albay through various activities, such as trade fairs, cooking shows, street parades and art exhibits.
