Magnitude 4.9 quake rocks Sarangani, Davao Occidental
MANILA, Philippines — The town of Sarangani in Davao Occidental was struck by a series of three earthquakes that started at past 6 a.m. on Saturday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvocs) said.
The quake’s epicenter was recorded at 209 kilometers southeast of Sarangani, and was of tectonic origin.
The strongest tremor that registered at a magnitude 4.9 was recorded at 6:22 a.m., with its epicenter situated 212 kilometers southeast of the town, at a depth of 48 kilometers.
Article continues after this advertisementAnother quake, measuring 4.2 magnitude, was recorded at 6:28 a.m. at 195 kilometers southeast of the town, with a depth of 3 kilometers.
At around 6:46 a.m., another tremblor was recorded at 4.1 magnitude located about 217 kilometers southeast of the town at a depth of 38 kilometers. /muf
