An Abu Sayyaf Group member based in Basilan, who was known as a gun-for-hire, was arrested in Zamboanga City on Thursday, May 2, for a drug-related case, police said on Friday.

Police Brigadier General Emmanuel Licup, Zamboanga Peninsula police director, identified the alleged bandit as Uring Aliyarin Akil, tagged the fourth most wanted person in Isabela City, the capital of Basilan.

“Akil is not just known as a hired killer of the Anjawani group, but also one of the trusted men of Abu leader Furuji Indama in Basilan,” Licup said.

Akil has been residing at Barangay Menzi in Isabela City but combined police forces arrested him in the Our Lady of Fatima Subdivision, Barangay Boalan of Zamboanga City on Thursday night, Licup said.

He was arrested based on the warrant of arrest issued by a regional trial court in Basilan for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 involving a December 2016 drug case.
