Senate panel to submit federal Charter report on May 20

MANILA, Philippines — The Senate committee on constitutional amendments will submit its report on the proposed federal charter change when the session resumes on May 20, Senator Francis Pangilinan said Thursday.

Pangilinan, the chairman of the panel, said the committee already drafted its report and leave its fate to senators of the 17th Congress.

“We will file the report, whether it will be tackled or not. We will see,” Pangilinan said in a Kapihan forum at the Senate.

The senator did not bare details of the report, saying the senators have not yet obtained a copy of the draft report.

“Hintayin na lang natin ‘yung report. I don’t want to make public statements and the senators are not in the loop. Out of courtesy to our colleagues in the Senate, they should know first,” Pangilinan said.

Last December, the House of Representatives approved on third reading its draft federal charter. /cbb
