MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it will remain on full alert on Wednesday, even as it lauded workers nationwide for commemorating Labor Day in an orderly and peaceful manner.
“The PNP remains on full alert to provide security to the public, prevent occurrence of crimes and respond to any disaster or emergency,” PNP Spokesperson Col. Bernard Banac said in a statement.
“We laud the workers nationwide for commemorating labor day in an orderly and peaceful manner,” he added.
The PNP said a total of 8,235 individuals joined Labor Day protest rallies across the country as of midday.
Banac said the peace situation remained “generally peaceful and orderly, with no untoward incidents” as of 3 p.m.
The number of Labor Day rally participants have also started to dwindle, dropping to 2,930, and is expected to decrease further, he added.
