MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Tuesday raised yellow alert on the Luzon Grid.
In an advisory, NGCP said the yellow alert was in effect from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
NGCP said Luzon Grid’s available capacity was 11,405 megawatts with demand peaking at 10,482 megawatts.
“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” the advisory further read.
The Department of Energy (DOE) earlier explained that a yellow warning alert is usually raised when “a grid’s reserve power — the difference between supply and demand — is below the required level.”
A yellow alert will not lead to power outages, the DOE said. /cbb
