Trader, Fil-Am nabbed in QC for illegal drugs
MANILA, Philippines—Two drug dealers were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City past midnight Wednesday, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Director General Undersecretary Jose Gutierrez. Jr. said.
Gutierrez identified the suspects as Mark Barbers Ablan, 49, businessman from 2801 Wack-Wack Twin Towers, Mandaluyong City; and Filipino-American Mark Lorenzo Diaz, 46, from 2223 Roxas Boulevard, Marvelia 1 Condominium, Pasay City.
He said that Ablan and Diaz were nabbed in a gas station along Katipunan Avenue in Diliman at around 1 a.m. after selling six sachets of suspected cocaine to an undercover agent who posed as a buyer.
Three small sachets of marijuana, one vial of ketanol, assorted medicines, drugs paraphernalia and a Toyota Camry bearing plate number XNX 336 were also recovered from the suspects, Gutierrez added.
Ablan and Diaz are now detained at the PDEA-National Capital Region detention facility while the seized evidences have been submitted to PDEA Laboratory Service for qualitative examination, he said.
The suspects will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, he said.
