DAVAO CITY— At least 18 mild earthquakes of tectonic origin hit Surigao del Norte from the dawn hours till mid morning on Monday, April 29, Phivolcs said.
The Phivolcs earthquake bulletin noted a 3.7 magnitude quake at 12:34 am on Monday, with epicenter at 60 km southeast of General Luna town of Surigao del Norte, and a depth of 12 km.
This was followed by a series of much milder quakes at 30 minutes interval or less; the latest of which was a 2.3 magnitude tremor noted at 10:28 am, 24 km southeast of General Luna town, at a depth of six km.
On Saturday, the municipality of General Luna experienced a series of quakes, with magnitude ranging from 1.7 up to 4.9.
Phivolcs noted some of the tremor were an aftershock of the magnitude 5.5 quake that also hit the town on Friday. /je
