Woman, 3 others die in shootout with Ecija anti-drug cops

CABANATUAN CITY–A woman and three other drug suspects were killed in a police anti-drug operation that turned bloody on Saturday (April 27) in Purok Mampulog at Bitas village here.

Rizza Fernando, Paul Santos, and two unidentified suspects allegedly opened fire at undercover policemen at 3:40 a.m. after selling shabu (crystal meth) for P1,000 in Purok Mampulog. 

They died on the spot after the police team returned fire, said Police Lt. Col. Ponciano Zafra, city police chief.

Forensic investigators recovered from the suspects four big packages and 10 sachets containing substances believed to be shabu, with an estimated street value of P408,000. They also recovered a cal. 9mm pistol, a cal. 45 pistol and two cal. 30 revolvers. /jpv
