Motorcyclist dies after being hit by truck in Tondo

MANILA, Philippines — A motorcyclist was killed after he was hit by a truck shortly after being thrown off his bike in Tondo, Manila on Friday night.

A report from the Manila Police District said Patrick Cabiles, 30, died on the spot after being hit by the truck driven by Richard Valera, 28,  at about 7:40 p.m. at the corner of Katuparan St. along the Radial Road 10.

Police said Cabiles and Valera were both traversing the northbound lane of Radial Road 10 in Barangay 101 when Cabiles allegedly lost control of his motorcycle on reaching the corner of Katuparan St.

Valera was accosted by barangay officials immediately after the incident. Police said the case will be referred to Manila City Prosecutor’s Office.  /muf
