MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte had declared 2019 as the International Labour Organization Centenary.
Duterte, in his Proclamation 710 signed on April 24, said the Philippines as a member of the International Labour Organization (ILO) “enedeavors to enhance its commitment to pursue the ideals of the organization.”
The President said the government “reaffirms its full support to, and cooperation with the, ILO’s mandate of promoting peace and social justice.”
He ordered the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in cooperation with employers’ and workers’ organization, to spearhead program and activities nationwide related to the ILO Centenary celebration.
“All other agencies and instrumentalities of the government, specifically those involved in ILO projects, are hereby enjoined, and all local government units, as well as the private sector, are hereby encouraged to provide the necessary support and assistance to the DOLE to ensure the successful observance of the ILO Centenary and the effective implementation of this proclamation,” he said.
He said the Presidential Communications Operations Office would lead the campaign of fostering ILO awareness in the Philippines and promote activities in conection with the ILO Centenary celebration. /jpv
