MANILA, Philippines — Parts of Metro Manila and several provinces in Luzon may experience rotational brownouts on Thursday night, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.
NGCP said the rotational brownouts would be implemented “to maintain the integrity of the power system.”
The rotational brownouts will happen from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the following areas:
NUVELCO (parts of Nueva Vizcaya)
NEECO II Area 1 & 2 (parts of Nueva Ecija)
AURELCO (parts of Aurora)
CANORECO (parts of Camarines Norte)
MERALCO (parts of Metro Manila)
NGCP may implement Manual Load Dropping (MLD) in the following areas today, April 25, to maintain the integrity of the power system:

“Schedule may be canceled if system condition improves, such as if actual demand falls below projections,” NGCP said.
NGCP earlier placed the Luzon grid on red alert from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The grid will be on red alert again 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and yellow alert from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m.
The yellow and red alert statuses were issued due to a low electricity reserve in the grid.
