PAMPANGA, Philippines — Three children and a woman were among those left dead in Porac, Pampanga by the strong earthquake that hit parts of Luzon on Monday.
According to Larry Fernando, director of the Jose S. Lapid District Hospital, the three children were declared dead on arrival at the hospital.
“Merong tatlong children na namatay, dead on arrival actually, smashed by a collapsed wall, ranging yung age niya from 1 to 3,” Fernando said in an interview with INQUIRER.net on Wednesday.
“And then meron isang babae rin, around 30-years-old,” he added.
According to Fernando, the woman was the mother of one of the dead children. The other two children, meanwhile, were not related.
Based on hospital information, a total of 76 persons were left injured by the quake.
Of the said number, at least 15 of them were from the collapsed Chuzon Supermarket building.
Fernardo added that of the 76 injured, seven were transferred to the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital and to the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center.
According to Fernando, most of the victims sustained fractures, minor bruises and head injuries. Some also had anxiety attacks. /muf
