MANILA, Philippines — Divided political views could exist in Filipino families and even the home of Senator Francis Pangilinan is no exception.
“Unfortunately, in the country many families of the country are divided on what is happening in the country and our family is no exception,” Pangilinan told ANC’s Head Start on Tuesday.
Pangilinan said this after his wife, singer Sharon Cuneta showed support for President Rodrigo Duterte amid the senator’s criticisms of the President.
In October 2018, Cuneta even shared the President’s video message for her after the President missed the singer’s show in Davao and Manila.
Cuneta even defended her brother Chet, who is gunning for the Pasay mayoralty post in May’s midterm polls, after he received an endorsement from the President.

Pangilinan, however, said he still loves his wife despite having different political views.
“I love my wife because she is her own person,” Pangilinan said. “Like I said families are divided, it is a reality.”
Pangilinan, who is also the campaign manager of opposition coalition Otso Diretso, said he has yet to consult his wife on endorsing the opposition senatorial slate.
“We have not really discuss this. She is in US [United States] for six weeks for her tour,” Pangilinan said.
The senator said he prefers to talk about his family first before politics.
“Halos hindi rin kami nagkikita. Let’s take this break and that is the first time to be together. Family muna pagusapan namin,” he said. /muf
