MANILA, Philippines — Two people suffered injuries while almost 100 families were left homeless after a fire broke out in Quezon City in the morning of Black Saturday, authorities said.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the victims were as 26-year-old Joshua Reblando, who suffered from laceration on his knee, while another unidentified woman suffered a third degree burn on her right heel and first degree burns on her left shoulder and forearms.
The blaze began at a two-storey house along Kaingin Bukid, Tabing Ilog Street Barangay Apolonio Samson, Quezon City of a certain Donna Serenado around 5:08 a.m. Serenado’s family was reportedly out for vacation.
The fire then scattered to neighboring houses made of light materials and reached until fourth alarm after less than 30 minutes.
Around 12 fire trucks responded to the fire which was put out at 6:28 a.m.
Police said around 50 houses were affected while an estimated cost of damage reached P250,000 in the fire.
The cause of fire is still unidentified, as of posting. /je
