ORMOC CITY — A dead loggerhead sea turtle was found floating on the sea off Barangay 48-B in Tacloban City, Leyte about 3 p.m. last Maundy Thursday.

Barangay Captain Fernando Abraham Magdua immediately ordered his village watchmen to bury the turtle, which is 19 inches long and 12 inches wide.

The turtle was in an advanced state of decomposition when found by children at the shoreline.

Magdua said the sea turtle had to be buried immediately because it produced a foul odor which could pose health risks to his constituents.

Magdua said fishermen believed that the sea turtle had been dead for about three to five days.
