CEBU CITY — The family of the working student killed while preparing to close a coffee shop in Cebu City last April 10 echoed their call for justice even as they prepared to bury her body on Sunday.
“The police now have persons of interests and we really hope that justice will be served,” said Reynaldo Ramos, the father of Kis Tryvl Ramos, who was among the two persons gunned down by an unidentified assailant inside the Good Cup Coffee Company on Ranudo Street, Barangay Cogon Ramos.
“We’re waiting for updates from the police,” he added.
The body of Ramos, who served as a cashier at the coffee shop, was transferred from the Rolling Hills Memorial Chapel in Mandaue City to Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Parish mortuary in Barangay Pardo, Cebu City on Friday morning.
They passed by the University of the Philippines Cebu compound where Ramos was supposed to graduate this June.
“We put UP’s Sablay over her coffin to signify her achievement. She wants to graduate this June,” said Bong Abela, co-owner of the Good Cup Coffee Company.
Ramos will be laid to rest at the Pardo Catholic Cemetery on Easter Sunday after the Requiem Mass at noon.
John Michael Hermoso, the other victim in the shooting incident, was buried at the Golden Haven Cemetery last Wednesday.
He, Ramos, and two other employees were closing the coffee shop around 11:20 p.m. last April 10 when a lone gunman burst in, opened fire at them, and then sped away on a motorcycle driven by another man.
Hermoso and Ramos suffered gunshot wounds on their head.
Workers Sherwin Dean Rivera and Jerome Amada were wounded and are recuperating at the hospital.
Co-owner Bong Abela said Hermoso was set to compete in the world’s premier coffee competition at the United States while Ramos was supposed to graduate with a degree in psychology this June.
Ramos was also a member of the student group Nagkahiusang Kusog sa Estudyante and a staff writer of Tug-ani, UP Cebu’s official publication. /lzb
